I was bought up in a country where you could be sent to prison just for holding your partners hand, if they are the same sex, you could be sent down for at least 14 years for being in a relationship with somebody of the same sex just because of my previous president who was homophobic – this saddens me as I have so many close friends that are gay and I couldn’t understand why they could not just be them. So growing up and watching them be secretive and only be themselves in their own home was so depressing. WHY should they have to be hidden away is LOVE NOT LOVE, everyone deserves that and everyone deserves to be able to walk down the aisle without a worry.
I have been married for just under 4 years with my husband and I am thankful now that in UK, not just here but plenty of places all over the world now allow same sex couples to marry legally. YEAH!!!
I recently was recently asked to assist on planning, along with supplying flowers for a same sex styled shoot with some amazing open minded suppliers who all shared the same values.
I still believe that there are a few suppliers that will not supply the LGBTQ community, which is crazy as planning and arranging same sex marriages is no different to planning a wedding for a man and a women.
The concept came from an amazing photographer Stephanie, who is in a same sex relationship and wanted to arrange a shoot based in Brighton, the home of GAY PRIDE.
I asked Stephanie her views and why she wanted to do a same sex shoot, here is what she had to say;
I wanted to do something as I haven’t done many real same sex weddings, and I think it’s really important to showcase them (same sex weddings) as something normal and so they can be seen more. I am aware looking back it’s just not something you see as much, not only weddings but relationships in the media or just have people to look up to in that way I love, so showcasing this shoot in whatever relationship would of been amazing, but I just wanted to share how beautiful it can be.
I really wanted a real couple, even more so being two girls this was important and always is for my shoots. I know Meg & Whitney from Instagram, as they’re very well-known lesbian content creators. Knowing they’re great in front of the camera and also want to share their love was such a big thing & important for the shoot.
So there was the words from a talented photographer and with her talent and concept and of course the talented suppliers that were involved made a stunning shoot together, we were lucky to be published in the same sex magazine ‘Dancing with them’ and soon will be in their blog ‘dancing with her’. So excited.
I am sure I can could go on about same sex marriages but I will leave it there
LOVE IS LOVE ……..
